How do I add a new Product Category?

If your inventory includes various types of items you may find it useful to organize them into different Product Categories. Product categories are used to group an arbitrary list of product items together. After creating a category you can then assign products to that category in the product entry screen. But where can we create a Product Category?

To start we will want to head over to the Other option in the Dashboard, hover over Other Options, and choose Preferences from the menu.

Here we will be taken to the Preferences screen where we can choose Inventory Preferences from the bottom of the list:

Now we can see any Product Categories that have already been created, to create a new Product Category click the “+” symbol. Then click inside the text field highlighted in blue to enter the name of your new Product Category. Deleting existing categories is as simple as clicking the “-” symbol.

There you have it! Your new Product Category is ready for your inventory organizational needs.
